Thoughts is an innovative composition for 5 advanced percussionists. The work is characterized by the alternation of beautiful, melodic passages (vibraphone and 2 marimbas) with spicy, Latin-like fragments for untuned percussion instruments (bongos, timbales, congas). The drummer forms an important foundation in this work, on the basis of which the other players can enjoy themselves. The composition requires that the players are very well attuned to each other in order to achieve a coherent interplay. Their ‘thoughts’ must be on the same page, so to speak. A true challenge!
